The Possible Dream

When I cannot do anything
to ease others in their sorrow
I lift them up to God in prayer
that he will ease this narrow
place of loneliness and grief,
and strengthen their ability
to endure unto relief.
Ive never known a single soul
immune to suffering,pain,
free from weariness anguish-spared,
safe from temptation strain.....
So like the hostler of old
who opened the pilgriminn
to ease and comfort wayfarers,
as well as friends and kin,
I want to bea sourse of love,
to any whom i chance to meet,
to all loved ones in my keeping.

Matt...25:40

Autumn Gold

Te polished pewter skies bend down to touch
The hilltops thick with color that defies
Description, but on such a day as this,
It may be said to almost blind eyes.
The very stillness brings a keener sense
Of hearing, and upon the faintest breeze,
Fall's pungent scent italicizes words
That nature only whispers to the trees.
The forest stands serenely carpeted.
With cushioned mats of pine, around each bend,
The gravel road is bright on either side,
with towering sumac,"tis a moment when
The soul stands stripped,to suddendly behold
The face of God among the Autumn's gold.

Peace

Peace is like a falling leaf,
That tumbles through the trees,
So calm and tranquil,heaven-hushed,
By God's own gentle breeze.
Peace is like a bird on wing-
Pure white,descending dove,
That reaches down to everyone
And touches us with love.
Peace is like a puffy cloud
That floats contentendly-
Relaxed.untouched by anxious cares,
In all serenity.
Peace is like a precious gift,
A gift God leaves for all-
Not as the world gives, does He give,
To those who heed his call.

John 14:27

The Hills That beckon Me

I look acress the far-off hills.
Where earth there touches sky,
Enjoying all the magic thrills
From breezes sailing by,
So much of nature lingers there
So Much of God I see
And marvel at the beauty in
The hills that beckon me.

So quickly I am Off and gone'
Along the magic way,
I long to climb the hills again
This bright and lovely day,

'Tis here I find a faith to keep
A peace and quit real,
Where nature seems to smile on me
And lends a hope ideal.

The lovely sky that reaches down
The cotton clouds of white,
An evening moon so big and round'
And stars all shining bright,
I find it all-each joy complete-
My heart alive and free,
The miracles of life are mine
In hills that beckons me.

Gifts To Find

From each day of life on earth,
Learn to find a gift of mirth;
From the days when things go wrong,
Find a smile or prayerful song.
Tears of anguish-rants of ire-
Will not change what has transpired.

Find a faith-to faith renew-
From each day your passing through;
Find a touch of peace and grace
From the days that griefs embrace.
Let no cloud of past dismay
Dim your sunshine today.

What is done-or means to be-
Will not change with woeful plea;
Hopes and dreams that time estranged-
Hate and anger will not change.
Learn to find some love each day,
In the time you find to pray.

Home Sweet Home

Home is where the heart is,
We head that way each day
After the bustle of the highways
To arrive safely we softly pray.

At times when home seems tiresome
We feel we must get away,
But we hang onto that door key,
Not matter come what may.

Oh,its great to go on vacation,
From place to place to roam,
When we grow tired of roaming
That key screams"Home Sweet Home"

We Look Forward to promised Land,
When life's highways we no longer roam.
To hear the Heavenly Father say,
"My child,come in you're home."

A Tinge Of Fall

There's a tinge of fall
In the air today,
A tinge of fall in the air,
'Mid mellowing fruit,
And coloring leaves,
A something that says ''Prepare
For the days to come,
When summer is gone.
Gather your fruit and your grain,
Now while you can,
For these golden hours
May never return again."

There's a tinge of fall
In our spiritual world,
A tinge of fall in the air,
Sweeping over the hearts of men,
A something that says"Prepare
For the days to come,
Lifes's summer is short.
Bring all of the sheep that you can
Into the fold
In these golden hours;
For jesus is coming again!"

Poem for a Rainy Night

Who can sleep with the night wind calls,
sighting softly outside my door,
And the midnight rain has a different sound,
Than any I've ever heard before.
Branches brush against the screen,
Dripping drops of jewelled light
Into shadowed little pools
Of emeralds scattered through through the night.
And seeping through the darkest hours,
Winding itself about my heart,
A blessed peace before whose face.
The worries of the day depart,
And down each crystal windowpane,
The silver rivers rain.

Prov.3:24

Troubled Waters

When I tread on trouble waters
And my faith begins to wane,
With his help I'll rise above it,
He is with me,praise his name.

He will hold my hand in trouble,
He will weep with me in sorrow
And He'll promise that a brighter day
Is in store for me tomorrow.

There is no one I can go to
For the comfort He can give,
He will always be there with me
Till on earth I no more live.

Then He'll gently lift me upwards
Onto his Fathers Throne,
Where pain and heartaches are behind me
In his eternal home

Gods Gifts

Its in the silence of the soul,
Where peace and wisdom stay,
To guide us through the din and strife,'
Confronting us each day.

God placed the gifts within us,
With His loving Grace,
Knowing that we need his love,
When trials of life we face.

This strength will gently will gently guide us,
His love will see us through,
Releasing gifts of faith and hope,
To bear,what we must do.

Ps.25:5

Indwelling Spirit

Mid the clamor and the turmoil,
When the world would have its way,
Tap indwelling wells of quitness
That will feed me through the day.

Be my source of inspiration;
Be my inner poise and calm;
At the altar of being
Send sweet harmonies of balm.

When I feel distraught and burdened
And there seems no listening ear,
Filter through my viens the order
That controls and conquers fear.

When annoy disrupts the silence
And confusion prompts dismay,
Let my spirit rise to meet Thee,
On the strains of peace I pray.

Is.30:7

Love

Love has many powers,
it can bring you to your knees,
can rip your heart like paper,
then mend it back with ease,
can draw out tears of sadness,
and also tears of joy,
can make us smile at someone
whose trying to annoy.
Love is all around us,
no matter where we turn;
love can be so simple,
yet hard for us to learn.
Loves's a soothing feeling,
that helpsus sleep at night;
love makes us grab a loved one,
and hug them oh so tight.
Love has many powers,
as I have said above;
the most important thing of all,
is remember,"God is Love"

1 John 4:8

As I Prepare to Meet the Day

Let the dawn fall softly
on my shoulders,Lord,
As I prepare to meet the day.
Let the sunshine wrap
it's warmth 'round me,\As i go along my way.
Let me feel your presence near me,
As the gentle breezes play
Through blades of grass, and in the trees,
Causing leaves so sway.
Let me show some kindness
to each person that i meet,
Let me see Your Image
in each person that i greet.

Seashore Solace

A visit to the seashore
Will soothe a heart in need
And make small cares and troubles
Seem minute grains indeed

Inhale the bracing sea breeze
And stroll on sun-kissed sand,
Peer out at fishing vessels-
Small specks so far from land.

Attend to great waves crashing
Upon receding shore
And marvel at huge conch shells
Flung down with mighty roar.

Join eager,sandy children
At architectural play,
Constructing moats and castles
High tide attacks each day.

Ascend the wind-tossed sand dunes
Where feathered sea oats grow,
Observe the Sunset Artist
On ocean spread orange glow.

You'll feel at one with heaven,
A part of sand and sea.
The rythym of the ocean
Pulsates etrnity!

In His Steps

Dwell not in the valley of despair,
waste not another day.
Arm yourself with faith and prayer,
and then be on your way.
Yield not unto temptation
which leads the soul astray,
But focus on the light ahead
and walk the narrow way.
Your guide shall always lead you
and shield you from harms way,
But you must follow in his steps
and listen and obey.
His strength shall never fail you
as you stop awhile to pray,'
For at the end of your journey
you'll find a brighter day.
At the end of life's great journey,
Heavens Just a step away
For all who follow in his steps
and listen and obey..

1 Peter 2:21

Within The House Of God

The church is always open
To worship and to pray,
And give you faith and guidance
To face each newborn day.

Within the holy house of God
You will find strength anew,
And inner peace will finds its way
In mind and soul of you.

Amidst its walls of silence
You'll find God always near,
To help you face each problem
And fill your heart with cheer.

Exod.20:8

Quiet Time

In a quiet time I find Him,
Walking down a maple lane;
On a sunlit field of daisies
Sparkling bright with last nights rain.

Alone I feel a presence
And a knowledge that He's there;
The world that moves around me
Makes me ever more aware.

A place down deep within me
Seeks these times of sweet release
From the earthly cares I live with
And I find an inner peace.

A Perfect Gift

We Live and learn in this old world
And a we older grow,
Still more and more we realize,
Its so little that we know.
Theres one thing that we wish we knew,
Its where and when to speak
And how to say the things we feel
To help the poor and weak.

So many times we want to talk,
But don't know what to say,
To give someone the strength he needs
To help him on his way.
If God would grant one perfect gift,
To one so small and weak,
The things I'd ask is just to know
When and where to speak.

Showing Favor

I chase the starlings from the feeder
Though I,really dont know, why?
I just find the little sparrows
More appealing to the eye;
And I chase the gulls and grackles-
When they venture into feed-
For I want the little sparrows
To be,first,to fill their need.
But I'm not alone a sinner-
Who discriminates this way-
For I see it all around me,
In the things we do and say;
Showing favors.Choosing subjects
To endow or chase away,
Seems a part of good and evil
That we picture every day..

Luke 6:37

A little time each day

Our Mountains can be molehills,
If we take time each day
To go to our dear father,God
Who hears us as we pray!

It need not be a church pew,
But silence of ones room,
Where we can go to God in prayer,
But no time be too soon!

So rather than our heartaches,
Which can be great indeed,
We need to count our blessings all,
Tis then our prayers succeed!

For God can lift our burdens,'
As tho'they feathers be,
if we but give our cares to him,
Whose eye the sparrow sees!

So let us seek our Father,
on each and every day
Who hears petitions one and all,
No matter when we pray!
